I’m stunned we’re at this point:
(month one, month two, month three, month four, month five, month six, month seven, month eight, month nine, month ten)
She looks stunned, too:
weight: 23 pounds 5 ounces
length: 30 inches tall
head: 18.75 inches
hair: thick and curly
Her mimicking skills in the last month have become much more refined. She can now clap, show us where her hair is, blow kisses, give kisses, point to things, stick her tongue out:
and best of all, declare a touchdown:
She says mama, dada, doggie, go, stop, hi, bye, and no.
In fact, right after I took this picture, she yelled NOOOOO at me.
When we catch her doing something she isn’t supposed to be doing (which is often), she’ll grunt and yell nooooooo before we can even say a word. In addition to disciplining herself, she even disciplines the dog when she barks. It’s really convenient.
We’ve all caught a break from teething this month and it’s been soooooo nice.
I am struggling to get her to use a sippy cup. She just has no interest and assumes all sippy cups are toys. It’s beyond frustrating.
Nothing about her seems like a baby anymore. She wants to feed herself. She squirms to get down and roam free. She wants to play and do things on HER schedule.
That includes walking, which I KNOW she can do, she just WON’T.
Maybe she’ll walk for me on Christmas.
Kate @ UpsideBackwards says:
My second child waited to walk until he knew he could do it – then on his first attempt, walked all the way from our bedroom, through the hallway, round the corner into the kitchen! Annie might be waiting too.
As for sippy cups – just give her a normal cup. She’ll soon learn not to spill. Then she might take to sippy cups for when you really need one (when travelling or whatever). Good luck
Love the pics, especially the knowing look in the last one!
emily bilbrey says:
happy 11 months, pretty little annie! you are a gem!
Elle says:
I can’t believe Annie is 11 months old already. I still remember when she was Binky. I have literally tried every sippy cup out there and my daughter refused every one of them except the Nuby straw sippy.
At 20 months old she still only wants that one. I’ve gotten her other straw ones but some my hubby and I can’t even drink out of. It’s like our brains will burst by using them.
Elle says:
Just wanted to add that I love that the sippy we use has a flip top cap so it can be closed when on the go and you don’t have to worry about finding a lid. The downside is it will spray you if you’re not careful when opening.
That can actually be entertainment for our daughter though and comes in handy when she’s getting restless at the grocery store. We use Dr. Brown’s natural flow cleaning brushes or else it’s a big pain to take the straw part out to clean.
Veronika says:
These past months have just flown by! My 11 month old has been using a straw cup since month 9 or so. Maybe those will work better for Annie too?
Helen says:
Wouldn’t her walking for you be just the best Christmas present? Maybe she is saving up for then just for you
I can’t believe how big she is getting, I can barely remember my kids at her age, and here you are with these wonderful reminders. I love reading about little Annie and the rest of your family, even the ones that make me cry. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas
Ann says:
LOL when my son was about Annies age, the sitter used to tell me abut him ” cruising” around her living room. He’d never do it at home though, until he got “caught”.
Heather says:
She’s totally messing with you. Every time you turn your back, she’s breaking out in to a crazy top hat and cane routine ala Michigan J. Frog.
Mine didn’t walk until 12 and 13 months, they showed a small amount of mercy to the terrified cat that lived with us and gave her time to prepare her hiding skills.
Michelle S says:
We have a little one that will be one on the 29th of December and it is such a fun age ! I love all the “firsts”. :}
Wishing you a very special 1st Christmas with Annie !!
Amanda says:
Annie is so cute and you can see her personality in every photo. Try a sippy cup that has a straw. My daughters could use those first before any other type of sippy cup. I usually had the best luck finding them at Target. Enjoy the Holiday’s!
Gertie says:
She is supercute! Don’t stress about the sippy cup or walking. They all get it eventually…. and it’s always when THEY want to…. : ) : ) : )
queenfrigid says:
I agree. Don’t stress about the sippy cup. Annie will show you when she is ready. She is gorgeous. Her smile is to die for!!
April says:
My youngest was super difficult with a sippy cup. Course he would never even take a bottle either! But I finally found one with a soft spout that is more like a bottle…Walmart carries them. Try that-it might just be that she doesn’t like the hard spout.
Amy says:
Sippy cup advice–only put water in bottles and put everything else in the sippy cup
Noelle says:
That is great advice! Wish someone would have suggested that to me when my daughter was a baby!
DefendUSA says:
Wow. 30 inches and she’s not even one!! My kids were such little peanuts. My one year old “porker” was 28 inches and 21 pounds. Just a stick. Maybe it’s because I breastfed until one? Annie is rocking it!
Try a straw in a fast food cup and then pull the switcheroo with a sippy cup…
Marie says:
That is one crazy cute kid! I hope Santa is extra good to her. Merry Christmas!
Amanda says:
She’s such a sweetie! We switched Zoe over to her sippy when she turned 1, we started giving her the sippys when she was about annies age now, but filled them with juice. By the time her birthday came we just switched them all out, and never looked back. But I agree with everyone else.. it’s when they are ready to do it. If Zoe hadn’t wanted to drink from the sippy she wouldn’t have.
Lisa says:
Oh my, 11 months already. Tell her to slow down, she’s growing up too fast.
Maybe walking is going to be her Christmas present to you and she’s just saving it up
Give that adorable Annie a big hug for me.
Melissa says:
Loved it! Cannot believe she is 11mo, where oh where does the time go? My favorite part of this post, was her ‘shocked’ expression, made me chuckle. Merry Christmas, Sphor family : ) ‘
Jen says:
Happy 11 months, Annie! It’s been so fun to watch you grow.
(((Hugs))) from here and Merry Christmas, Spohr family!
Ann Daniel says:
She is beyond perfection and adorableness!
Elizabeth says:
I can’t believe she’s going to be a year old soon. Happy 11th Month Birthday to you Annie!!! (And why is every baby’s favorite word No!?!!?)
If I don’t get to post again I wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!
Ashley says:
11 months – time flies, doesn’t it? My little man will be 10 mos on the 24th. He loves the super cheap sippy cups from Wal-Mart. They say “take-n-toss” … we tried others, but no luck.
Jessica says:
She is so cute!!!
Nikki says:
It’s almost unbelievable that she’s so big already!! She’s gotten cuter and cuter with each passing day.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas holiday and hopes that Annie will walk on Christmas day!
XOXO from GA,
Nikki
Skye says:
I just love the second picture, where she’s staring in horror at the blocks as if to say, “How did I get so OLD?! Soon it’s gonna be potty training, responsibility, SCHOOL… nooooo!”
I LOVE that you guys do these pictures every month. She is going to love looking back at these someday! (Maybe she already does?)
stuckinmypedals says:
Gosh, where does the time go? Enjoy your first Christmas together!
monica says:
I thoroughly enjoy watching you grow little one, I come here daily for my “dose of Annie”. Your face is just a-dorable!
Tara. says:
My gosh, she is so cute!!! I cannot believe she is 11 months old. Wow. Are y’all making big plans for her 1st birthday yet? I know it will be a most excellent celebration!
Rebecca says:
She is gorgeous and she looks like she wants to eat the blocks in that first photo!
Terri says:
Annie looks so much like her daddy in these pics. Usually I think she looks more like momma but this time she’s daddy’s mini me. What a sweetie, she will walk.. when SHE is darn good and ready! And probably when you aren’t holding the camera!
Shana in Texas says:
Annie is so stinkin’ cute! Her picture should be on Wikipedia next to the definition of Cute Baby. Merry & Happy!
susan says:
What a doll!!!!!!!!
Glenda says:
Happy 11mos Annie! Gorgeous as ever!
Amy Collen says:
Ah, the bottle battle. Neither of my boys were sippy cup fans. Better to just skip the sippies. My doctor said to use a sports bottle. They make cute little ones for kids. It is like sucking but yet not. It worked GREAT!!! Then go to a straw after that and drinking out of a regular cup.
LOL! This was with my second kid. The first one was on a bottle until he was over 2 years old. I did the sports cup with him too out of desperation and it worked!
Plus then they have to transition again off the sippies to a regular cup. At least with sports bottles or straws you never have to worry about it!
Heather says:
Oh man she’s delicious! She is so squishy and adorable!!!!
Try a sippy cup with a soft mouth piece at first so she can bite down on it. Doing so will release a little of whatever is inside, and she’ll figure out that she can get something from it, and that it’s not just something to hurdle across the room at Rigby! Either that, or give it to her without the rubber stopper inside of it the first few times. It will accomplish the same thing.
Thank you for sharing your precious baby girl with us! She sure is something else!
Merry Merry!
lilliancg says:
cutie pie! as far as sippy cups go, my daughter, who is 19 months, would not do sippy cups until I tried the thinkbaby one. you can use either a bottle nipple or a sippy cup nipple with it. it worked very well for a couple of weeks while we were trying to transition–the only problem is that it leaks a little.
Rachel says:
I second the sippy cup w/ a straw idea. I have known several children that would have nothing to do with either the soft or hard lid kind that took right to the straws.
Noelle says:
My daughter walked for the first time on Christmas (11.5 months old) and it was the most amazing gift! But she would NOT drink out of a sippy cup until she was almost 2. I am so not kidding. You know how they say just don’t give them the bottle and when they’re hungry or thirsty enough they’ll use the cup or eat the solid food? Umm, yeah, not so much. My advice is don’t stress about it! When she’s ready, she’s ready, and as you know from her independent streak she’s going to do things in her own time!
Merry Christmas!
Laura says:
I loved the touchdown picture! She just gets more and more cute every month!
Merry Christmas!
Amanda M. says:
She’s cuter than ever!
AmazingGreis says:
WOW, 11 months, I can’t believe it’s been that long already. She’s such a little girl now. Next month will be fun!
Gemini-Girl says:
In that 3rd picture she looks so much like her big sister.
I cannot believe it’s been 11 months. soon a year. Wow. I wont forget that friday when you were going into labor. Love you all so so much.
