I had lunch yesterday with my mom and aunt. It was good timing, it forced me to shower and leave my house.
We drove through the canyon to get to the beach. I have a love/hate relationship with the canyons. They are twisty and make me nauseous, but I love the moment when you take that final turn and can see the sparkling blue ocean.
The restaurant we ate at was near the water, so I took lots of deep breaths of that sea air.
I got Mexican corn, my favorite.
As I munched on chips and salsa, I unknowingly put my finger in bird poop. Then I grabbed a chip, popped it in my mouth, and started chewing away…then I saw my finger. So yeah, I ate some bird poop.
That pretty much sums up my life right now.
(Don’t worry, I disinfected my mouth and brain with tequila.)
Michelle says:
Eh, a little bird poop won’t hurt you. It has to have some sort of nutritional value. That being said, BLECH.
TamaraL says:
Ohhhhh….
Ewwww…..
There has to be some sort of good luck behind that!
Lanie says:
Ugh! They say bird poop is good luck (but I am not sure who “they” are or if “they” are believable).
I am glad that you showered got dressed and went out for lunch with your mom and aunt. Tequila is good too :-). Take care.
Marypat says:
Tequila…best disinfectant ever!
Annalisa says:
I’m kinda wondering about the logistic of the bird poo incident, but also afraid to do so (I want to know, and I don’t want to know, if that makes any sense).
Sorry it seems to sum up your life, but here’s hoping Lanie might be right.
Casey says:
Haha, I kind of was wondering the same thing – and then I realized they must’ve been sitting outside?? And maybe a bird flew over and pooped in the chip basket? LOL – deep thoughts
Sorry, Heather that does suck. But that Mexican corn looks awesome!
Elizabeth says:
Yuck! But that corn looks yummy!
Thinking of you. (hugs)
Mommy says:
Tequila totally cancels out bird poop.
Hugs to you all!
Nasrene says:
Tequila certainly solves that problem! Sorry you’re having a “bird poop in the mouth” kind of life at the moment. Hang in there!
Leah says:
Well that goes well with the granola I am eating. Yuck! Glad you had a good time, the beach for me is a healing spot.
Tracie says:
I was feeling so jealous of your lunch until you reached the bird poop.
Sorry you are having a poop-filled life right now.
Heidi says:
What is Mexican corn?? It looks yummy.

I’ve been thinking about this…how you feel as though people have forgotten Maddie or have moved on. (Which, I totally understand, because grief makes you think things like, “How can XXX be laughing? Doesn’t she know what happened?”) But here is one way that I remember Maddie: Everyday, I read your blog. Instead of typing “annabelspohr.com” I use “remembermaddie.com”. It always gives me a second to smile and think of your pretty daughter, while coming to read about your other (pretty) daughter. It’s not big, but I wanted you to know. xoxo
Beth says:
i also use remembermaddie.com
susanne says:
i am still using “remembermaddie.com” as well!
Skye says:
I had no idea about this URL! Thanks for sharing. I will start using it.
Molly says:
Hang in, Heather. Sorry things sorta suck right now.
Cristy says:
I feel the same about the canyon but the destination makes it so worth it. You’re due for some good luck so here’s hoping the bite of bird poop is a sign of things to come. Thinking of you and your family- all of you!
Jenn says:
Your description of the canyons that open up to the beach sounds so beautiful!!! How lucky you are to live near such an amazing place!!! I’m glad you had fun!!! Ohh by the way…I heard it was “good luck” when a bird poops on your head….HHmm, I wonder if actually eating the shit gives you even MORE luck?!?!?!? Go buy a lottery ticket just too be on the safe side!!! ha ha
Skye says:
This reminds me of an incident about ten years ago that I (sadly) still remember. I was mindlessly eating some chocolate cookies and reading stuff online when I looked down and saw ants crawling off the cookie onto my hand. I was horrified- the ants blended into the chocolate so how many ants did I eat before I noticed? Yuck. Poop sounds even worse, though. I’m so sorry you feel this way right now, and I hope you are feeling better soon.

So many thoughts my fingers don’t know what to do cuz my brain won’t decide what to say first…
hmmm…here goes….
-Mexican corn–never heard of it but it looks FAB and now I must seek it out. Thanks for that.
-Love your description of the canyon opening out to the view of the ocean because I can picture that precise spot!
-Bird poop salsa: may be a new trend, you never know! I am amazed you held it together: I would have gagged and possibly puked and ruined an entire restaurant-full’s lunch! But at least you had the healing power of tequila to fix counter act the icky!
-After reading your readers comments, I’ve got to say, I had no idea there were so many ways to reach your blog. I reach it through the original (I think??) thespohrsaremultiplying… BUT I came here because of Maddie. She captured my heart…and then broke it just a few months later. I will never forget your darling first born daughter & continue to love her as I get to know & love your 2nd-born daughter. And I thank you for sharing both of them with us. And for sharing of yourself & Mike and everything that you do, as well.
-You are loved!
xo~Mary

Haha! Gross! That corn does look awesome though! Yummy! Hope you had a great day with your mom, other than the bird poop!
